Civil Deficiency Memo mailed re:
You did not serve the other side. You must give the other side in the case copies of every document you file in court. This is called “service.” Fill out the certificate of service section at the end of the form or file a separate certificate of service form that includes: the documents served, who you served, when you did service, and how you provided copies to the other side in the case. You can use Certificate of Service (form TF-700), available at ak-courts.info/tf700. Serve by first-class mail or hand-delivery unless otherwise ordered by the court. Or, if the other side agreed to service by fax or email by checking that option in any filing (or by filing a separate notice of consent), then you can serve by that method instead. Civil Rules 5(f) and 5.1(c)(3).
When wanting to communicate with the judge, you must do so by way of a Motion with a Proposed Order (CIV-805 & CIV-820) or a Notice of Filing (TF-705), depending on what it is you are trying to do. If you are wanting the Court to take action and issue an Order, you must do so by filing a Motion with a Proposed Order for the judge to sign. If you are just wanting to make the judge aware of something without the Court taking action, you can do so by filing a Notice of Filing (no Order will be issued). Correspondence/Letters do not provide the Court with a proper filing and these may not get seen by the judge and cannot be used for ruling.
