Inspector Comments I observed that the ice machine is currently stored in a room located off of the women's bathroom. The door of the ice machine room was broken off it's hinges. Employees must walk into the women's bathroom to retrieve ice using open buckets. The toilet room is a possible source of contamination to food and food contact surfaces posing a health risk to the public if contaminated ice is consumed. Furthermore, I also observed exposed insulation directly above the ice machine which could become an adulterant if any debris falls into the unit. Additionally, after looking at the interior of the ice machine, there was pink material/debris that is likely bacterial growth. An employee immediately shut down the ice maker to begin cleaning and sanitizing the unit and the door was promptly reinstalled. The room with the ice machine also as an exposed utility sink which is another possible source of contamination. The ice machine will need to be relocated so that it is properly protected from sources of contamination. In the meantime, I discussed with the operator that until the machine can be re-located, bagged ice from an approved source (such as a grocery store) should be used. The operator agreed to these conditions and will work on moving the ice machine likely to the bar service area.
